CASE STUDY ON TCHIBO FWA SOLUTION

In Hungary, both wired and wireless internet access is considered good by world standards, especially in large cities. Our client, Tchibo Budapest Kft., operates several multifunctional stores in shopping malls, which also operate as cafés and sales points, and during the holiday season they also set up temporary pop-up sales points away from the stores. The sales processes require internet access, as the invoicing and inventory management system is connected online to the central server. However, its standardized implementation is a serious challenge, because wired internet access varies in malls, and in most cases there is no reasonable, fast and cost-effective wired deployment method for pop-up sales points.

STANDARDIZATION PROBLEMS:

  • Various connection methods: copper and fiber optic cable
  • Different monthly services and billing
  • Location-dependent deployment methods

CUSTOMER REQUIREMENTS:

  • A solution that can be operated and deployed equally in all locations
  • Reliable 5G/LTE connectivity even in basement stores
  • Remote device access for operational and maintenance purposes

SYSWIND TECHNICAL SUGGESTION:

  • Industrial-grade 5G/LTE router positioned before of the local firewall device
  • Cross-polarized omnidirectional multi-cell antenna
  • RMS – remote management service

THE SOLUTION

After technical discussions with Tchibo Budapest Ltd., we provided a test system to their store located in the MOM Park shopping mall in Budapest. Due to its location, it was clear that a high-gain Poynting antenna and a Teltonika dual-SIM 5G router with failover capabilities would be required.

The tests quickly proved that without the antenna, the signal reception of the router was not satisfactory due to the reinforced concrete structure. By installing the antenna, reliable internet access was established, so the system operated flawlessly during the one-month test. With Teltonika RMS remote monitoring service, the operation workload and the number of on-site visits were significantly reduced.

Tchibo Budapest Ltd. subsequently introduced the solution in its other stores.

ELEMENTS OF THE FWA SOLUTION

5G/LTE ROUTER:

The Teltonika RUTX50 is a dual-SIM, multi-network router that offers 5G mobile communication at speeds up to 3.3 Gbps for applications that require high data traffic and reliability. The device’s dual-SIM design provides data connection redundancy with automatic failover.

HIGH-GAIN ANTENNA:

The Poynting XPOL-1-5G+ is a next-generation, high-performance antenna solution designed to maximize cellular network connectivity for FWA deployments, ensuring superior performance for current and future networks.

REMOTE MANAGEMENT:

Teltonika Remote Management System (RMS) is a multifunctional platform that offers an easy way to monitor connected network devices.

SUMMARY

The availability of high-quality wired internet in Hungary does not necessarily mean that a chain can provide an ideal and standardized solution at every location. And it cannot be expected that wireless solutions will work flawlessly inside concrete buildings. However, with the technologies offered by Syswind, both standardization and reliability reach a level that can be used to create a standard corporate solution.
